Bitcoin Hosting in Costa Rica: VPS, Dedicated, and Colocation

Paying a hosting invoice with bitcoin and operating Bitcoin software are different decisions. The first concerns billing; the second requires appropriate resources, security and recovery procedures.
CR Servers' acceptance of Bitcoin dates to mid-2013, as reported by El Financiero. That history does not make every server plan suitable for every node.
Define the workload before the plan
A payment frontend, Bitcoin node, indexer and Lightning node have different resource and recovery needs.
Record:
- The software and version you will operate.
- Storage growth, indexing and synchronization requirements.
- Memory and CPU demand during normal operation and recovery.
- Network traffic and connectivity requirements.
- Data that can be rebuilt and secrets that cannot be replaced.
Check the application's current requirements. A small entry plan should not be assumed to accommodate a complete payment stack or unrestricted blockchain storage.
Keep custody separate from hosting
Identify which components hold keys or can authorize payments. Limit administrative access and avoid exposing wallet or node control interfaces to the public internet.
Hosting-provider access, compromised credentials and vulnerable software are part of the threat model. A remote server is not equivalent to a hardware wallet under your physical control.
Keep spending permissions separate from monitoring where the application supports it. Maintain recovery material independently of the running server.
Use implementation-specific recovery
Bitcoin data that can be downloaded again is different from wallet secrets or Lightning channel state.
For LND, restoring an outdated channel database can lose funds. A Static Channel Backup is a recovery mechanism that typically involves peers closing channels and eventual on-chain recovery; it is not uninterrupted failover.
Other implementations have their own supported procedures. Test the appropriate process without running duplicate live instances of the same node identity.
Evaluate the Costa Rica deployment
CR Servers operates in leased rack space in San José. Document the location, network terms and division of responsibility for the service you select.
Test connections to peers and application dependencies. A location in another country does not by itself create geographic resilience: backup placement and a tested recovery plan are still necessary.
For billing, use the payment methods and terms shown on your actual invoice. Do not assume a discount, universal Lightning availability or immediate provisioning after a payment attempt.

Does paying with bitcoin include node administration?
No. Payment method and technical management are separate. Confirm the work included in the service agreement.
Can any VPS run my Bitcoin stack?
No. Size the complete deployment, including synchronization, indexing, growth and recovery.
Is colocation also suitable for mining equipment?
Do not assume acceptance. Form factor, power, cooling and service policy must be agreed before hardware is shipped.
