Scheduled maintenance notices
How CR Servers tells you about maintenance: a client area notice, the Maintenance page and emails. Choose whether to hear about all of it.
When we schedule work on our network or on a server, we tell you ahead of time in the client area and by email. You'll know when it happens, what to expect, and whether it affects your services.
Where to see maintenance
- Client area notice. A few days before, a notice appears at the top of every page of clients.crservers.com. It shows the date, the time and what to expect. During the work it changes to In progress, and when it's done it shows Completed for a few hours. You can close it with the X; it comes back when the status changes.
- Maintenance page. In the sidebar, under Support tickets, open Maintenance (or go straight to the maintenance page). It lists upcoming work, the 10 most recent past maintenances, and an Affects your services label when it applies.
- Add to calendar. On each upcoming maintenance, Add to calendar downloads an
.icsfile that opens in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
Work on a specific server is shown only to clients with services on that server. Network-wide work is shown to everyone.
Times are in Costa Rica time (GMT-6). If your computer is in another time zone, the notice also shows your local time.
Which emails you get
| When | What we send |
|---|---|
| When it's scheduled | Date, time, what to expect and, when it applies, which of your services run on the equipment |
| 24 hours before | A reminder (skipped when the first notice went out less than a day and a half ahead) |
| When it starts | Only for some work, when it helps to know it has begun |
| When it's done | Confirmation that it's finished, with a note if needed |
| If we run out of time | If we didn't get to your services in the announced window: notice that it's rescheduled, with nothing changed on them. We then announce the new date |
| If it's cancelled | Notice that no work will take place on that date |
Emails go to your account address and appear in your client area email history.
Choose which notices you get
- Sign in to clients.crservers.com.
- Open Maintenance in the sidebar.
- Under Email notices, pick an option:
- Only when it affects my services (recommended, and the default).
- All maintenance: also network work and other equipment, even when we expect no interruption.
- Click Save.
We always email you when maintenance affects your services, whichever option you choose.
What each impact means
- No interruption: we don't expect you to notice anything.
- Brief interruptions: there may be outages of a few minutes, for example while a device restarts.
- Service unavailable: your services won't respond during the stated window.
