Request reverse DNS for a dedicated IP
Ask CR Servers to set the PTR record for a public IP assigned to your dedicated server.
Reverse DNS (a PTR record) maps an IP address back to a hostname. Receiving mail servers and some network checks expect it.
We set PTR for public IPs assigned to your dedicated server. The client area does not have a separate form for this.
What to send
Open a ticket and include:
- The IP address — one we assigned to your dedicated server.
- The hostname you want, as a fully qualified name such as
mail.example.com. - Whether that hostname already points at the same IP in forward DNS.
Addresses we do not set here
A PTR for an address you brought from another provider, or for a shared-hosting site, is a different request. Say so in the ticket if you are not sure which IP you have.
