Verify your domain contact email (WHOIS)
If the website and email stopped but hosting looks fine, the registrar may have suspended the domain until you verify the WHOIS contact email.
If the website and email stop overnight and the hosting control panel, site files, and mailboxes still look normal, the problem is often the domain, not the server. The registrar can suspend the name until you verify the contact email on file (WHOIS).
That is a compliance hold, not an outage on our side.
Why this happens
After you register a domain, or after you change the registrant name or email, the registrar must confirm that address. You have 15 days to click the verification link they send. If you miss it, the domain stays suspended until you complete verification.
What to do
- Confirm the registrant email on the domain (client area → domains, or the registrar account if you registered elsewhere).
- Resend the verification message from the domain tools there.
- Check that inbox and spam for a message about verifying your contact information.
- Open the link. Resolution is often minutes to a few hours; allow up to about 24 hours.
Do not rebuild the site or recreate mailboxes while the name is on hold — files and hosting were not the cause.
If you lost that mailbox
Update the WHOIS contact to an address you monitor, then resend the verification. If the hold remains, open a ticket — we escalate to the registrar.
Prevention
Use a permanent, monitored email for WHOIS — not a rarely checked shared inbox. After a new registration or a contact change, complete the verification in the 15-day window.
