Open the VPS console from the client area
Use the browser console when SSH is unavailable — reboot, fix networking, or recover access on your VPS.
When SSH fails (firewall lockout, wrong password, failed network change), the virtual console in the client area is the recovery path. It shows the guest screen as if a monitor were attached (often called a KVM / noVNC console).
Steps
- Log in at clients.crservers.com.
- Open Services → your VPS.
- Choose the Console / VNC / KVM action (wording varies by product page).
- Allow the browser to open the console session. Use an up-to-date browser; disable blockers for the client-area domain if the console window stays blank.
- Log in with the same OS username/password (or rescue credentials) you use on the server.
Useful recovery actions
- Reset a forgotten root password from single-user / rescue mode if your image supports it
- Undo a bad firewall rule that blocked SSH
- Confirm the guest is booting after a reboot or rebuild
After you regain access
Prefer normal SSH (or PuTTY on Windows) for daily work. The console is for break-glass access.
Dedicated / colocation hardware KVMs are provisioned separately — if you have IPMI or a remote hands request, open a ticket instead of using the VPS console flow.
