Create and manage subdomains
Add a subdomain such as blog.example.com, set its document root under public_html, and delete it when you no longer need it.
A subdomain is a hostname under a domain already on this plan — for example blog.example.com. It is not a second registered domain. For another domain name on the same plan, use secondary and pointer domains.
Add a subdomain
- Open the hosting control panel from the client area.
- Open Domains → subdomains.
- Enter the host (
blog) and choose the parent domain. - Confirm the document root — usually a folder under
public_html(or that site’s web root). Upload the site files there. - Save.
If this domain uses our nameservers, DNS for the subdomain is usually created automatically. If DNS is elsewhere, add the matching A (or CNAME) record yourself — see point a domain to CR Servers. Preview before DNS with temporary domain access.
Delete a subdomain
Remove subdomains you no longer use so the hostname stops resolving to this account. Deleting the subdomain does not delete the parent domain. Copy any files you still need out of that document root first.
Open a ticket if the subdomain does not resolve after DNS has had time to propagate — include the hostname and where DNS is hosted.
