Back up and restore your hosting account
Create a panel backup of site files and databases, download a copy you control, and restore only when you mean to overwrite the live account.
A panel backup snapshots this hosting account: site files and, when the panel includes them, databases. It is not a substitute for a copy you keep off the server. Use FTP or the file manager if you only need a folder.
Create a backup
- Open the hosting control panel from the client area.
- Open Backup / restore.
- Start a full or partial backup (files, databases, or both — as the panel offers).
- Wait until it finishes. Download the archive to your computer.
Do this before a CMS upgrade or a large edit. MySQL dumps in the same backup only if you selected databases.
Restore
Restore overwrites live files (and databases, if included). Confirm you have the right archive. After restore, load the site and a mailbox test before you delete the download.
Open a ticket if a backup never finishes or restore leaves the site broken — include the domain and the backup time.
