Connect ChatGPT or Claude with AI Connect

Before you start, read what AI Connect is. You need:

• an active shared hosting service with CR Servers;
• access to your CR Servers client area;
• a ChatGPT or Claude account that allows adding apps or connectors.

The AI Connect address is:

ChatGPT

1. In ChatGPT, mention @CR Servers in a chat or open it from Apps. If it isn't there, ask your workspace admin to add it (see below).
2. Click Connect.
3. The CR Servers client area opens. Sign in, with two-step verification if you've turned it on.
4. Choose the site and the permission:
   • Edit and publish: the assistant prepares changes and publishes them once you confirm.
   • Preview only: it prepares changes but can't publish them.
5. Click Allow. You're back in ChatGPT, connected.

Each hosting service is listed by its main domain. To work on another site, connect again and choose it; in ChatGPT, use Connect another account.

The first time you connect a site, CR Servers sets it up automatically. If you see "We're activating this site", try again in a few minutes.

For ChatGPT Business or Enterprise Admins

In the workspace settings, open Plugins (or Apps) → CR Servers and check:

The permission matters. With the default (Allow low-risk tools), ChatGPT blocks publishing and says the action was blocked by a safety check. With Allow read tools, the assistant reads the site without asking and asks before every change. We don't recommend Allow all tools: it would publish without asking.

Claude

claude.ai and Claude Desktop:

1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
2. Paste https://connect.crservers.com/mcp and save.
3. Click Connect, sign in to the CR Servers client area, choose the site and the permission, and click Allow.

Claude Code (for developers):

Your First Change

Start with something small:

"Show me the files on my site. Then change the home page title to 'Welcome' and give me the preview."

Open the preview link, confirm if you like it, and also try "undo the last change".

Troubleshooting

What you see	What to do
"We're activating this site"	Wait a few minutes and connect again.
ChatGPT says the action was blocked by a safety check	The workspace admin needs to set the permission to Allow read tools (see above).
ChatGPT says a tool doesn't exist	The admin needs to refresh the app's tools in the workspace settings (Tools → Refresh).
"Publishing is paused for this site"	The hosting service is suspended. Check your billing or open a ticket.
An extra domain in your plan doesn't appear	For now, AI Connect works with the main domain of each service. Additional domains are on our roadmap.
Your site doesn't appear when connecting	Only active shared hosting services on your account appear. Contact us if you think that's a mistake.
