What you can do with each service in the client area
The self-service options in the CR Servers client area for web hosting, reseller, VPS, dedicated servers, colocation and domains, and what to request by ticket.
Each service in the client area has its own page with the options that make sense for it. This guide lists what you can do yourself for each type of service, and what our team does for you by ticket.
To open a service, click its type under Your services in the sidebar, then Manage. The ⋮ button next to Manage has quick actions such as Edit Label. A label is your own name for the service (for example "Store website" or "Accounting server"), and it shows in your lists and on the home page. Every hosting, reseller, VPS, dedicated server and colocation service has one.
Options only appear while the service is active. A cancelled service shows its details and billing, not its tools.
Web hosting and reseller
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Hosting Control Panel | Opens your web hosting control panel (the reseller control panel on reseller plans), where you manage websites, email, databases and files |
| Login Details | The panel address and username, for when you sign in to the panel directly |
| Reset Password | Sets a new password for the control panel |
| Edit Label | Your own name for the plan |
Everything about websites and email is done inside the control panel: see the web hosting control panel overview.
VPS
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Console | The server screen in your browser, for when SSH doesn't respond |
| Reboot, Shutdown, power switch | Restart, shut down or turn the VPS on |
| Rebuild | Reinstalls the operating system. This erases everything on the VPS. |
| Root password and SSH keys | Reset the root password or the installed SSH keys |
| Hostname → Edit | Change the server name |
| Network | See the network interfaces and IP addresses |
| Boot Order | Choose the boot device, for recovery or a custom install |
| Upgrade | Add CPU, memory or disk; you see the price before you confirm |
| Change Billing Cycle | Move to a longer or shorter billing cycle |
| Logs | Tasks run on the VPS, such as reboots and rebuilds |
Step by step: Manage your VPS from the client area.
Dedicated servers and colocation
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Login Details | Access details we delivered for the server (dedicated servers) |
| IP addresses | The IP addresses assigned to your server (dedicated servers) |
| Edit Label | Your own name for the server |
Power cycles and remote hands are handled by our team by ticket (Remote hands for colocation). For console access, use the IP-KVM details we sent you (IP-KVM access).
Domains
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Change nameservers | Point the domain to other nameservers |
| DNS Management | Edit the domain's DNS records (guide) |
| Contact Information | Update the owner, administrative, technical and billing contacts at the registry |
| Auth Info / EPP Key | The code another registrar asks for when you transfer the domain out |
| Registrar Lock | Protects the domain from transfers you didn't ask for. Keep it on unless you are transferring out. |
| Auto Renew | We generate the renewal invoice before the domain expires |
| Privacy | Hides your contact details from the public WHOIS, where the extension allows it |
Step by step: Manage your domains in the client area.
Some extensions work differently:
- .cr and .co.cr: you can change nameservers, edit DNS records and set auto-renew. Our team applies nameserver changes at NIC Costa Rica, so they are not instant. Contacts and transfer codes are managed through NIC Costa Rica (register a .cr domain). Privacy is not available.
- .us: the registry does not allow privacy, so the owner's details stay public.
What we do by ticket
Some changes affect who owns a service or how the registry identifies a domain. To protect you, our team does them after checking the request. Open a ticket from the account that owns the service:
- Move a service or domain to another client account, for example when you sell a website or a business changes hands
- Register your own nameservers under a domain (for example
ns1.yourdomain.com) - Reverse DNS (PTR) for a VPS, dedicated server or colocation IP address
- Extra IP addresses
- Installing or reissuing a commercial SSL certificate (free certificates for your websites are in the web hosting control panel: SSL guide)
If you're not sure whether something can be done from the client area, ask us by ticket, phone or WhatsApp (how support works).
